Echoes of the Sun

Commissioned for Pimpama Sports Hub’s foyer, Echoes of the sun, is a light installation integrated into the building’s architecture. Hidden in the piques of the steepled ceiling, skylights direct the external light onto modified mirror stainless steel—in response waterline reflections project across the foyer’s ceiling. These undulating luminous light-scapes bring the external environment inside—developing and evolving as the sun tracks through the sky. Echoes of the sun is in a perpetual state of image generation—growing and retracting throughout each given day. Season cycles, weather patterns, and all matter of environmental shifts are articulated through the crystalline water-like washes of light. At night Echoes of the sun gains a new presence, as a light program evolves from whites to cool blues—these colours overlap to wash a new light-scape across the space.
